Dear 7th Grade Students,
You are about to start studying a new language! How exciting!
Learning a new language is like figuring out a secret code. You start breaking the parts of the code, making sense of it little by little.
You will see how in class you will go from not making sense at all of what you are hearing to finding that the sounds are familiar, even if you don't know what they mean.
Then, here and there you will be able to understand a word! and then a small sentence.
And then why not, you may be able to say a few words... sí, no, hola, me llamo...
A little bit like how you learned your own language.
I want you to know one thing: WE ARE ALL ABLE TO LEARN A LANGUAGE.
The proof is that you learned English, or whatever your mother tongue is.
I will guide you in your adventure of decoding another language with stories, pictures, movements, objects.
You just need to pay attention, and try to figure out what I am trying to say.
